[Part 1] What Kanaya-san makes and her thoughts on collaboration watches

Artist Kanaya Yuko
Q1. Speaking of Kanaya's works, his vivid colors and geometric artwork are impressive. Please tell us what led you to your current style.
I've loved drawing since I was a child, and I naturally went to an art university. So, when I objectively compared my own work with the other students' works, I realized once again that I liked color, and by using colour I opened up. As for motifs, I'm not very good at drawing concrete things, and as I tried to draw more stress-free, I started to draw more abstract or geometric things.

Here is an artwork filled with the vibrant colors and depth of Kanaya's world!
Q2. Are there any rules for creating?
That means not to force yourself to draw. I value the mood when I'm making it. When I don't get on, I get a good mood by drinking coffee, eating sweets, listening to music, etc. You can also become more creative by cutting out magazines and doing collages, or doing things that have nothing to do with the main topic.
A box collaged by cutting out a magazine page! It's packed with colored pencils inside.
Q3. Works are created using a variety of techniques, including painting and animation. What is the appeal of each of them?
I've also tried out other techniques that incorporate craft-like elements and dye them, such as trying out some interesting techniques. I want to be flexible and not limit my methods.
When it comes to paintings, I like the fact that I can be free from realistic restrictions such as materials and space. It's interesting that you can experience what you've created because you can express your work throughout the space. Also, since animation doesn't have any advanced technology, it's fun to be able to work on productions that emphasize momentum.
Q4. From here on, I have a question about collaboration watches. Q&Q Please tell us how you felt when you received a collaboration request from SmileSolar, and what themes were designed?
My work iswatchThere are many shapes that would suit them, so I think it would go well together. So I was really looking forward to getting started. The theme is "Just wearing it makes me excitedwatch」。watchThe design is scattered with bright colors that will brighten up your heart every time you see it. I would like you to use it regardless of gender or scene.
Q5. The last question in the first part.watchPlease tell us about the fun of designing.
Once the picture is finished, that's it. But,watchThe hand is moving all the time, so the picture doesn't stop. When I was designing, I was able to create the book from a different perspective than when I was drawing, such as the relationship between the drawing on the disc and the three types of needles, and the fact that it would be fun to attach motifs to the needles.
