Where does the colors and patterns that Suzuki creates come from?
This time, we visited the "Suzuki Masaru's Textile Exhibition" and interviewed her. The venue, lined with colorful textiles, is truly spectacular. What kind of person is Suzuki? What are the thoughts you put into the design?

-Mr. Suzuki, please look forward to your continued support today. There are lots of great textile designs. The colour and pattern make you feel very powerful
Suzuki:thank you. Unfortunately, due to the state of emergency, the event was cancelled and we were unable to see it directly, but filling in such a large space gave us great confidence. This was the first time I'd ever made such a large fabric.
-There are many works, but there are none of the same patterns or colors. What kind of things do you usually get inspired?
Suzuki:I often get inspired by my wife. I've been with my wife since university and was good at expressing her using a lot of colours. On the other hand, I'm actually not good at using colours. I can't really get a grasp of how to combine them.
-It's surprising that I'm not good at it.
Suzuki:I was fascinated by the designs of marimekko when I was a student, and since I began to like the Scandinavian worldview, I have been designing using a lot of colors, and I am inspired by my wife, who is good at using colors every day. My wife is active as a potter, and in contrast to my conservative self, she is a very challenging person. Looking at my wife makes me want to try something new too. Nowadays, it's really fun to think about what colours to use and what combinations to use.
-I guess it was your wife who was the source of Suzuki's colorful world.

- Suzuki is actually conservative, but I think the bold and relaxed design of this collaboration watch is also wonderful. What theme did you design?
Suzuki:Knowing the time iswatchI think it's the role of a person, but I designed it with the hope that it will become an existence that "changes people's feelings."
-What do you mean?
Suzuki:Beautiful colors have the power to lift people's feelings. I believe in this power and create using a variety of colors myself.watchI want to breathe that kind of power into it.
-What kind of thoughts did blue have?
Suzuki:thiswatchI hope that every time I see it, my heart will calm down, my panic will calm me down, and I will feel a cool mood. That's why I decided to design it in blue.
- Certainly not too intense or too modest. It's a calming colour. Does the pattern have any message in it?
Suzuki:Designed bird motifs. I think birds are motifs that have the power to transmit. thiswatchI hope that by acquiring this, it will be an opportunity to communicate with others.
-If you look closely, you can see something like a beak. cute. The numbers on the dial also seem to have a pattern.
Suzuki:I was wondering until the end whether to include the numbers. But I thought I might read the time wrong when I put it on. It was designed to be a part of the pattern.
-I think I usually design textiles,watchHave you ever had trouble designing it?
Suzuki:That's the textile toowatchIt's no different when it comes to designing. Layering colors and patterns, and then just happeningwatchWhen I cut it out into the shape, it turned out like this. That's the image. That's why the design allows you to enjoy a variety of expressions, no matter which angle you look at it or wherever you cut it out.
-I see. It's also rare to see a design that combines the band and dial.
Suzuki:I agree. thiswatchI thought it would be interesting to see everything as a single campus and design it without thinking about it, and I thought it would be interesting.
-thiswatchWhat kind of scene do you think would suit you?
Suzuki:I hope you can use it freely in everyday life and in business situations. This in a suitwatchI think combining it with this can also be an accent. It is also recommended for those who usually wear basic colors and actually want to enjoy a sophisticated fashion. It's easy to try if you have it on hand.
